CrimeLab research

Crime is a complex phenomenon that is studied by a wide range of disciplines, including psychology, psychiatry, criminology, sociology, neuroscience and law.

CrimeLab^UZH brings together experts from various disciplines and institutions to harness synergies, conduct evidence-based discussions on crime and thereby drive forward crime research in a fundamental way.

The research the CrimeLab, which addresses both basic research and applied issues, is divided into four thematic areas:

We combine normative and empirical approaches with state-of-the-art computer-based methods. We use artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze complex datasets and identify patterns.

A key project of CrimeLab is the development of a comprehensive crime data platform that provides researchers and policymakers with evidence-based access to reliable information.
