Crime prevention requires knowledge of the causes of crime, which range from biological and epigenetic factors to personal and social factors.

At CrimeLabUZH, various experimental and non-experimental research projects are conducted and statistical methods – ranging from traditional approaches to machine learning – are used to analyse the causes of crime and improve our understanding of criminal behaviour.

Planned research project

The first phase of the CrimeLab will feature various research projects on the causes of crime, including:

  • Trajectories of limbic system development and their relevance for delinquency in childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood (Lead: Sascha Frühholz)
  • School environment & problem behavior in adolescents (Lead: Dirk Baier)
